Spring!

The flowers in my garden are coming up! The crocus are already blooming... other little green things are coming up and starting to bloom. I reminded of The Secret Garden...

I'm not sure what these little guys are yet...maybe tulips? But i love the color.

I love the crocus... Can't wait for tomorrow to see what else will open!

so, rose hips were on my list to try dyeing with. the results? ehh





Just not that impressive. not worth the time, i'd say.

Another Sunday afternoon of Dyeing

Today...i'm playing with dried hibiscus from our local health food store...the results?
AWESOME!

Sunday Afternoon Dyeing with Poms

I used dried pomegranite skins that i had saved. Unfortunately, some molded so i ended up throwing almost half of what i had saved away. the dye vat started out yellow and got quite orange but produced no red shades. I got yellows and browns.

Top right: basic yellow--silk w/ alum

bottom right: silk w/ copper

top middle: ammonia and a second boiling of the dye stuffs

bottom middle: second dyeing in ammonia/poms

far left: vinegar added to the original dye vat
