Total Spoiler

So, I'm loving the shaft of these. BUT, i cannot decide what to do with the heel. I've played with a variety of things from vertical stripes (interesting) to some other things that failed pretty big, to these horizontal stripes. I'm not sure i LOVE them. I'm just not sure. Someone suggested just green. I've been considering just the dark color. Oh dear, i see more frogging in my future. :-(
I guess i'm sort of hoping someone will chime in and say either: Oh, i like it, it's good, OR What the hell are you thinking, that doesn't fit at all. So, what DO you think???

Does the foot have the same pattern as the leg? If so, I'd try to have the heel flap match the ribbing at the top and the toe. (If you're unsure of the toe, as well.) If the color work is different on the foot, I'd keep the horizontal stripes. I, personally, really like the way the stripes look in contrast to the leg. however, if the toe and ribbing are one color, and the leg and foot are the same pattern, the heel would look very random in the stripes.

Does that make sense? It does in my head at least... but it is still very early for me. ^_^

Fabulous pattern in these socks - they're great! Go with the dark blue, which will nicely balance the top ribbing. :) beth

Well, I think they're pretty awesome as is. But the whole sock-making process still leaves me in awe.

I absolutely love them. They are really beautiful. I think they would be fine as you are going now. In art & design and even music, you don't put one design element in something, you echo design elements throughout a piece. Using that same methodology, you could echo the stripes from the ribbing at the top in the heel. It would also make it a little more bold, like the design in the body of the sock. That said, they are beautiful just as they are.

They're gorgeous! I with Ed - I think the heel and toe should match the cuff.

So, where would one find the chart for your lovely sock?

Love the socks! How about an eye of partridge heel?

I think you should go with a blue heel :)

What do I think? I think I'm scared. Color work. Eep! Wait. No fear knitting this year. Okay, I'm fine. Breathe. Breathe. Heel and toe matching the cuff is fine. Or not. Breathe. No really. Whatever you decide. Where is that heart monitor, anyway?

Well they'd be pretty if the heel matched the cuff and toe, but IMO that would be more boring than the way they are. You have the same colors, sort of in the same pattern but a radically different scale and I LOVE it, be brave and don't frog!

Lovely socks! I think an eye of partridge heel would work well, continuing the color inter play.
